Binary Perl for Raspberry Pi

Note:

My current and future development is concentrating on a stand alone distribution of Perl modules, Perl and Raspberry Pi, for installation in the system Perl on Raspberry Pi.

The Raspbian Wheezy based operating system for the Raspberry Pi has Perl installed of course. If, however you want to use CPAN to maintain your Perl rather than the Debian package system, you need a separate Perl installation. This also prevents conflicts between your CPAN installed modules and dependencies and the Perl requirements of the system. Leave the system Perl to the system and keep your CPAN based Perl separate.

Citrus Perl has provided a binary distribution of Perl for some time targeting Windows, Linux on x86 / x86_84 and Mac OS X operating systems. It provides wxPerl and Tk GUI modules together with a useful selection of other per-built modules.

The binary Perl available here provides a Citrus Perl like distribution for Raspbian Wheezy on the Raspberry Pi.

Get Citrus Perl for Raspberry Pi from the Binary Perl Distribution page.

The site also provides a collection of Perl modules that wrap some common C libraries that provide access to the Rasberry Pi's GPIO. The HiPi Modules are available at the CPAN and from the HiPi Modules pages.
